The Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, thanks to a touchdown run by Mataeo Durant and a field goal by Charlie Ham.

Clemson got on the board with a field goal in the second quarter, but Duke responded with a touchdown pass from Gunnar Holmberg to Jalon Calhoun to take a 21-3 lead into halftime.

The Blue Devils extended their lead to 28-3 in the third quarter on a touchdown run by Mataeo Durant. Clemson finally got a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late.

Duke's defense was the key to the victory, holding Clemson to just 233 total yards. The Blue Devils also forced two turnovers, a fumble and an interception.

Mataeo Durant was the star of the game for Duke, rushing for 129 yards and two touchdowns. Gunnar Holmberg threw for 147 yards and a touchdown.

The loss was a disappointing start for Clemson, which is coming off a 9-3 season. The Tigers will need to improve their offense if they want to compete for a ACC championship this year.
